During the war the Novak and his comrades were assigned to defend a keep and all the civilians in them. Thinking this was not a likely attack spot, Novaks commander sent only 15 of his men. These men happened to include Novak, his girlfriend, her friend, his 2 brothers and best friend. There was no sign of trouble the first 2 days but as the clock struck midnight on day 3 there were literally 100+ men storming the front gates. As the battle started all the guards ran to the front of the keep to man there posts, Novak included. As he was running there he saw that there was a well place tree branch in the back of the keep that would allow the enemy to easily breach the walls. So deciding to beat the enemy to it he headed over to the location. It was however to late. With all the civilians in there homes and all the help at the front lines Novak was left to defend the back wall by himself. It took him everything to stop the soldiers in the back but he eventually won. His friends and family were not as lucky. As he delivered his final blow and ran to the front of the keep, the civilians were all running to the back and the gates had smashed open. His comrades were dead. Using the low branch as a means to escape he then was able to tell the people to hop down the back wall and run into the woods and meet at a specific location. Knowing that this was his end his only goal now was to buy them time. And time he bought. He was not only able to buy them enough time to let them all escape he to was able to flee with his life.
